Giraffe: Katsu Me Outside

Most days of the week I am craving katsu pork, so thank goodness for Giraffe being close by in Portland.

This Japanese deli is stocked with grab and go items, such as sandwiches, bento boxes, and baked goods from Oyatsupan. If you are an on-the-go kind of person like me it is the perfect thing to grab on lunch or you can sit and savor.

My first time here, I tried the half pork, half egg sando, which I would recommend if you want to get a variety. I personally prefer the pork, so I have opted for the full pork sando since then. I am all about texture when it comes to my food, and the curry bun did not disappoint. The outside is so crispy, and contrasted with the curry inside it’s delectable.

I am also a big fan of various beverages, and always try to get something I have never had before. I choose my drinks based entirely on the label, which sometimes gets me in to trouble, especially in the wine department. But both of these beverages were non-alcoholic and delicious!

They also have a large variety of sake and alcoholic beverages, if you are in the mood for that!

And if you still have room afterward, you can treat yourself or grab some snacks to go!

So next time you are wandering around OMSI or are taking a walk on the waterfront, take a detour! It is only a few blocks over to this amazing space! Giraffe Goods is located inside Cargo at 81 SE Yamhill St. You’ll be glad you did!
